Mind The Gap

Mind The Gap is an invitation to sit in the spaces between. In an attempt to bridge past and present, perception and reality, and self and other, nine artists negotiate meaning through the lens. To mind the gap is to acknowledge its presence. The show culminates as a collective effort to mend the unequal relationship between photographer and subject.

This exhibition is the culmination of two modules at the NTU School of Art, Design and Media – Extended Photography (DP4001) and Documentary Practices (DP3011), mentored by Ang Song Nian and Samuel He respectively. It showcases works by nine students, including participants from Communication Studies, Environmental Studies, as well as an exchange student from the UK, who have engaged with the photographic medium as a means of inquiry, reflection and storytelling. Drawing from diverse disciplines, their works examine contemporary concerns through both personal and collective narratives.
