Creative Malay Arts & Culture (CMAC) invited ADM’s Centre for Asian Art and Design (CAAD) to participate in the grand opening of Wisma Geylang Serai on 26 January 2019. Assoc Prof Peer Sathikh, Director of CAAD together with Asst Prof Kristy H.A. Kang led a team of undergraduate students in Interactive Media and Visual Communication – Bahrul Anam Musta’ein, Reynard Adrianto and Putri Dina Andyana as well as Research Assistant Tan Guan Yi. Inspired by the cultural heritage of this historic Malay community in Singapore, ADM’s team conceived and created a site-specific projection mapped animation. “Progression/Kemajuan” explores the architecture, economy, arts and culture of Geylang Serai's past, present and future. The creative team was supported by Lim Pheng Yew and the technical team consisting of Ahmad Azahki Mustafa, Arifin Bin Ami, Bharat Singh, Kumar Chockanathan, Poh Zhuang Yu, Rashid Rahim, and Tan Wee Liang. Videography was done by ADM film student Ibrahim Bin Zubir. Publicity to this event was by Muhammad Mustajab from ADM’s publicity & outreach office.

This media artwork received great appreciation by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who inaugurated the opening of Wisma Geylang Serai as well as the various dignitaries who graced the occasion. The projection mapped animation was exhibited on 26 and 27 January 2019 to the delight of the public.
