Permanent Collection Textile at Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A)

On 25 May, the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) acquired three material samples, developed through research conducted by the UKRI Interdisciplinary Textiles Circularity Centre (TCC), for inclusion in its permanent collections. The samples, produced by Professor Paulo Bartolo, Dr Cian Vyas and Dr Evangelos Daskalakis, showcase the use of advanced 3D printing technology to deposit bio-waste-derived bacterial cellulose onto textiles, enhancing durability and extending product lifespan. The research explored how bio-based circular materials can support textile repair, reinforcement and reuse through innovative circular design and advanced manufacturing approaches.
