COURSES OF STUDY

The courses of study and the distribution of the courses for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with 2nd Major in Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacology will be determined by the School of Biological Sciences with the approval of the University.

Each Course will be assigned a certain number of Academic Units (AUs) as determined by the University. The distribution of the courses of study and the associated number of AUs are shown in the table below.

  • Core: Compulsory courses required to satisfy programme requirements. In the first and second year, it is common in that all students enrol for the same core courses.
  • Major Prescribed Electives: Students to elect and undertake courses with advanced topics and training specific to the major discipline.
  • 6 ICC - Common Core Courses: Focusing on Key Transferable Skills and Global Challenges.  
  • 4 ICC - Professional Series: Including Professional Communication, Digital proficiency, Professional internship, Profession Preparation.
  • 1 ICC - Care, Serve, Learn (CSL): To develop deep understanding of societal issues and empathy through active community service and reflective learning.
  • Broadening & Deepening Electives (2nd major in BSMCP)- To fulfil minimum total 32 AU (compulsory + elective) to be awarded the Second Major.
    • 7 compulsory courses
    • Minimum total 15AU from elective courses
  • Broadening & Deepening Electives:  BDE may be taken from the courses offered by the school (usually from Selected Major Prescribed Electives) or from courses offered by other schools in the University. BDE may be used to fulfil requirements for Second Major, Minor, and Work-study programmes and MOOCs approved by NTU.

Remarks: Up to 12AU of BS Core and MPE courses could be double-counted to fulfil 2nd major requirements.
