Forget dry tutorials and silent screens; this coding event was all about colour, creativity, and kid-powered code.

On 19 July 2025, the Turing AI Scholars Programme (TAISP) teamed up with the Potong Pasir Youth Network and Central Singapore CDC to host Coding for Kids — a hands-on Scratch workshop designed for young minds aged 10 to 14.

Across two joyful hours, participants dived into the basics of coding with Scratch, a visual programming tool that empowered them to bring their ideas to life on screen. By the end of the session, each child had created a unique mini project to take home. From virtual pets and jumping games to maze challenges and creative mouse trails, these weren’t just coding exercises; they were reflections of each young mind’s imagination.

Laptops clicked. Bright eyes lit up. And the energy? Pure inspiration.

Guided by patient volunteers every step of the way, the event made tech education fun, affordable, and accessible! Especially for those taking their very first steps into the world of code.

Coding for Kids wasn’t just about building blocks on a screen. It was about building confidence, curiosity, and a community where every child could feel like a future innovator.

Because when you give kids the right tools, they don’t just learn to code.

They learn to dream.
