Minor in Finance
The Minor in Finance programme is open to selected School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) undergraduate students. Enrolment is subjected to the discretion of the School, with only 50 students admitted to the minor per academic year. Students will be required to take a total of 15 academic units in order to fulfill the requirements of a minor in finance.
Students are required to register for Business Finance and receive a minimum of B+ grade in order to proceed further in the minor programme.
Two Compulsory Courses:
- Business Finance
- Investments
Choose three courses from the following:
- Derivative Securities and Hedging Strategies
- Fixed-Income Securities
- Equity Valuation
- Financial Modelling
- Alternative Investments
Important Notes
The award of minor will be reflected in a graduate’s transcript but not his degree certificate. No additional certificate will be issued.
- For students on the Interdisciplinary Collaborative Core (ICC) Curriculum (full-time students admitted to Year 1 from AY2021-22, and full-time students admitted directly to Year 2 from AY2022-23), click here more details on the course requirement and grading.

- NIE students have to consult the NIE Office of Academic Administration and Services (OAAS) if they have intention to pursue a minor.
