Research Brief

Lianyao’s research focuses on the intersection of screen media, public space and digital placemaking. She examines the role of moving image art in placemaking, whilst embracing film and media studies, public art and urban studies. Her work investigates how curated moving image media in public spaces reconfigure modes of spectatorship and influence the experience of space, perception and collective memory. Through this inquiry, she seeks to advance analytical frameworks and methodologies for understanding situated media arts, urban interfaces and contemporary curatorial practices, as well as their practical application.
