Emmy-Winning Alumna, Samantha Suyi Lee, delivered lecture on "Beyond the Lightbox"

Samantha Suyi Lee is an Emmy Award-winning director and story artist working in the animation industry in Los Angeles, having lent her talents at globally renowned studios like Disney TV Animation, Warner Animation Group, Netflix Animation, and DreamWorks. Her list of credits includes Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, DC League of Super-Pets, Centaurworld, We Lost Our Human, Oddballs, and Cleopatra in Space. She’s currently a story artist on Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse at Sony Pictures Animation (premiering 2027).

At the lecture, she took the audience through her artistic journey, beginning with her early days animating on paper in the ADM basement and leading up to her work on major Hollywood productions. She also spoke candidly about the principles and experiences that shaped her career, offering insights on staying true to meaningful and authentic storytelling in an industry that can easily drift from it.
