Where is China's economy heading under the weight of the coronavirus and war? Two local experts to give insights
Lianhe Zaobao will co-organise a forum titled ‘The National People's Congress in the Shadow of Geopolitics: Interpreting the Direction of China's Economy’.
NTU’s Prof Tan Kong Yam said that the two sessions would normally focus more on China's domestic issues, but with the Russia-Ukraine war and other geopolitical pressures, China needs to ensure that it can withstand external pressures and grow steadily. He described it as like a big ship that can focus on internal management and adjustments when the wind is calm, but when a storm hits, the captain has to think about how to navigate through the waves.
