Although Sanae Miyako holds the upper hand in the election, the Centrist Reform Alliance remains the biggest variable

Unlike her predecessor Shigeru Ishiba, whose approval ratings were low, Sanae Takaichi's approval ratings have steadily climbed since taking office, and she is widely considered a strong candidate to maintain her position. However, the election is not without its challenges, with the biggest potential challenge coming from the Centrist Reform Alliance. Dr Kei Koga, Associate Professor at NTU’s Public Policy and Global Affairs programme, said that compared to Shigeru Ishiba's relatively low approval rating during his tenure, Sanae Takaichi's approval rating has risen significantly since she took office, and the Liberal Democratic Party's performance in the election under her leadership is also different from the past.
