MTI-NTU Economic Dialogue 2026

How can Singapore continue to thrive in a world that is increasingly fragmented and unpredictable?

This was the central question explored at the MTI-NTU Economic Dialogue 2026, hosted by the NTU School of Social Sciences (SSS) on 26 August 2026.

The event opened with remarks by SSS Chair, Professor Yohanes Eko Riyanto, followed by a keynote address by Dr Tan See Leng, Minister for Trade and Industry (Energy and Industry), titled “A New Economic Blueprint: Securing Growth and Jobs for Singapore”.

The keynote was followed by an engaging dialogue between Dr Tan See Leng and Professor Euston Quah, Albert Winsemius Chair Professor of Economics and Director of the Economic Growth Centre. The discussion examined the choices and trade-offs facing Singapore, including energy security, AI, resilience, economic growth and opportunities for Singaporeans.

The programme also featured the Economist Service Undergraduate Scholarship Presentation Ceremony, recognising talented young individuals with the aptitude and interest to pursue careers as public sector economists.

SSS@NTU was pleased to host the ceremony and recognise this year’s scholarship recipients. We extend our warmest congratulations to all the recipients on this significant achievement.
