People's Association withdraws offer to meet couple

The People's Association (PA) has withdrawn its offer to meet a Malay/Muslim couple whose photo was used as a standee for Hari Raya decorations without permission, citing disagreements. In a Facebook post on 14 June, the PA cited Ms Sarah Bagharib’s recent comments on the matter, including in an online podcast hosted by NTUacademic Walid Jumblatt Abdullah on 7 Jun where the PA claimed that she insinuated that its staff and volunteers did not find anything wrong with the standee as they might be “blind to racism”.
