Chan Chun Sing: Singapore must maintain and renew the social contract; rally people to deal with global changes

In his opening remarks at the 9th Singapore Economic Review Conference, Prof Euston Quah, Editor-in-Chief of the Singapore Economic Review and Albert Winsemius chair professor of economics at NTU, said that while the epidemic chapter was coming to an end, the world and the global economy were facing new challenges, including supply chain disruptions, inflation and rising social inequalities, which also exposed the fragility of the world's interconnectedness.

He argued that economics must continue to engage with society and provide insights into the real or controversial issues facing the world.
