Calibrating the costs and benefits of Singapore’s carbon tax

Euston Quah, Albert Winsemius Chair Professor of Economics and director, Economic Growth Centre, at the NTU and Tan Tsiat Siong, lecturer in the School of Business, SUSS, discussed the issue of higher carbon tax in this joint commentary.

Higher carbon taxes will aid the drive towards a greener economy, but care must be taken in pacing the increases and setting the rates in view of the trade-offs and Singapore’s constraints, they said.
