Celebrating a Proud SSS Achievement at the Singapore Book Awards

SSS@NTU is proud to share that Associate Professor Walid Jumblatt Abdullah, from our Public Policy and Global Affairs (PPGA) programme and Assistant Chair (Student Life), was recognised at the Singapore Book Awards held on Tuesday, 28 April 2026.

His book, Why Palestine: Reflections from Singapore, received a Special Recognition and Commendation - an honour that highlights its impact and contribution to public discourse.

The Singapore Book Awards celebrate excellence in publishing and literary achievement, recognising works that reflect Singapore’s identity, imagination, and cultural depth. This recognition affirms the importance of thoughtful, rigorous scholarship that engages with pressing global issues.

A/P Walid's book has also resonated strongly with readers, spending ten weeks in the top three of The Straits Times bestseller list, including reaching the number one spot, thrice, in June 2025, and continuing to feature on the list on multiple occasions thereafter.

This achievement reflects the meaningful work of our PPGA faculty in shaping conversations that extend beyond the classroom and into society.
