Analysis: Tax cuts don't necessarily attract votes; Sanae Takaichi's real trump card is this

Can tax cuts and other economic policies become a powerful tool for winning votes? Analysts believe that although Sanae Takaichi's economic policies are more attractive than the opposition's tax cut proposal, the smooth implementation of these policies remains uncertain. Her victory may lie in her strong leadership style and the advantage of still being in her first 100 days in office. Dr Kei Koga, Associate Professor of the NTU Public Policy and Global Affairs programme, believes that the policy's appeal to voters remains difficult to assess. He pointed out that while some voters expect these policies to boost the Japanese economy and revitalise it, others question the source of funding for such policies.
