Academics: Polarised views online, need to build ‘safe spaces’ offline

Sociologist Laavanya Kathiravelu, Asst Prof from NTU Singapore, was one of the panellist at a forum yesterday to discuss race and racism.  Moderated by SMU Prof Paulin Straughan, other panellists included Assoc Prof Elmie Nekmat, deputy head of the Department of Communications and New Media, NUS, Assoc Prof Daniel Goh from the Department of Sociology at NUS, Zaobao editor Goh Sin Teck.
