Professor Paulo Bartolo appointed as Executive Director for the Singapore Centre for 3D Printing

Professor Paulo Bartolo, an accomplished scientist and leader in the advanced manufacturing research field from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, has been appointed the Executive Director of the Singapore Centre for 3D Printing.

Prof Bartolo was the Chair in Advanced Manufacturing at the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering (MACE), University of Manchester. He also served as the Head of the Manufacturing Group and the Industry 4.0 Academic lead in the University of Manchester. He was also a member of the Management Board of the EPSRC and MRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Regenerative Medicine. Prof Bartolo was a Fellow of CIRP (The International Academy of Production Engineering) and the current Chairman of the CIRP Scientific Technical Committee on Electro-Physical and Chemical Processes (STC E).

Prof Bartolo received several commendations, including a commendation of public recognition from the Portuguese Government for his outstanding work as an advisor of the Portuguese Government. He is an experienced member of evaluation panels for several international funding agencies and has been engaged in around 90 research projects funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Innovate UK, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Royal Society, the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, the Portuguese Agency for Innovation, and the European Commission and Industry.

With his expertise and experience, Prof Bartolo will guide SC3DP in continuing its journey to be a world leader in 3D printing and achieving its strategic goals.
