The monthly thematic seminars aim to cover the different aspects of Additive Manufacturing (AM), drawing insights from global academic and industry thought-leaders to generate discussion and action on the advancement of AM technology and its integration into the emerging suite of Industry 4.0 digital technologies.

 

The Future of Manufacturing – Grand Challenges

What does it take for AM to move beyond? This webinar will continue to explore the grand challenges of AM as a sunrise industry and its potential for growth. There will be two talks followed by a panel discussion. The panel discussion will be moderated by Prof Paulo Bartolo, SC3DP Executive Director.

 

Speakers

Mr Pierre Forêt

Pierre Forêt, is a French engineer who joined Linde in 2009. He currently holds the position of Director R&D and oversees Linde’s Technology R&D - Additive Manufacturing in Munich, leading a team developing new gas solutions including powder atomization, laser powder-bed fusion and binder jetting. He holds an M.Sc in Material Science.

Professor Michael Schmidt

Prof. Michael Schmidt is Managing Director of the Bavarian Laser Center (blz). He heads the chair for photonic technologies at the University of Erlangen, is also the current President of Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft Lasertechnik e.V. (WLT) and has extensive contacts in the global photonics sector.
