Presentation at UBSN Neuroscience Conference & Workshops 2025

On 7–8 June 2025, at the UBSN Neuroscience Conference hosted by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Dr Pablo Cruz presented research on behalf of Principal Investigator Dr Ananda Sidarta. The study, What the Brain Signals When Balance Is Perturbed: The Neural Cost of Time in an ERP Study, investigated how younger and older adults’ brains respond to sudden balance disturbances.

Using a slope-based lean-and-release paradigm with event-related potential (ERP) recordings, the research identified slower neural responses in older adults compared to younger adults, highlighting delayed sensory processing as a possible contributor to fall risk. These findings may guide future neuromodulation strategies for fall prevention.
