Introduction
This course aims to teach the basics of natural language processing through introduction to the formal concepts and running examples. NLP is a one of the key areas in artificial intelligence and the area covers many techniques in sense making from text data.

At the end of the course, learners are able to:
- basic concepts of NLP
- how to apply some of the NLP tools on text data
- the pipeline in building a simple NLP system
Scope
- Word level processing: tokenization and morphological analysis
- Sentence level processing: part-of-speech tagging, and passing
- Document and collection level processing: indexing and search
- Case studies and applications: sentiment analysis, information extraction, and social media text analysis
No pre-requisites are needed to enrol in the individual courses.
Participants need to take note that those without qualifications or prior working experience in relevant engineering or the related fields, may find the course contents challenging.
