Act Locally, Think Globally: Overseas Business Immersion Programme (Advanced Short Course, SkillsFuture)

Course Overview

A five-day overseas go-global programme, this course is designed for participants who want to explore business opportunities beyond Singapore. Participants will learn the business environments and opportunities in the country where the course is held, be informed of the statutory regulations to avoid pitfalls and visit local SMEs to learn their business models. During the course, participants will have opportunities to network with local industry experts and with prospective business partners.

 

Shenzhen

Going Global: Venturing Into Shenzhen, China

This immersion trip provides participants with a unique chance to experience Shenzhen's dynamic innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem which has earned the title of 'China's Silicon Valley'. Participants can gain valuable insights and deepen their understanding of China's tech-driven growth, build meaningful connections, and discover collaboration opportunities in Shenzhen, one of the world's most rapidly growing cities.

Each Immersion Programme is curated with different topics in mind, please refer to each programmes' itinerary.

Entrepreneurs and start-ups interested in China's tech ecosystem and seeking connections, and opportunities in Shenzhen.

     

Full Course Fees

Amount will be in Singapore Dollars with GST included.

Fees include the below:

NTU and Local Facilitators for overseas programme, together with 5 night hotel accommodation, seminars and corporate visits. Overseas daily coach buses and networking events will be included (while airtickets are excluded from this programme fee).

2. SkillsFuture Credit
Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits (up to S$500) to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding. This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Applications via MySkillsFuture.sg must be made within 60 days before course commencement. Please click here for more details. 3. 
Absentee Payroll
Companies who sponsor their employees for the course may apply for Absentee Payroll via the SkillsConnect system. For more information, please visit SkillsConnect. 

4. NTU Alumni Course Credit
From 1 July 2019, NTU alumni may utilise their course credits of S$1,600.00 to co-pay up to 50% of the nett fee (exclusive of prevailing GST) payable for courses with starting date from 1 July 2019 onwards. There will be no administrative fee involved for the use of NTU Alumni Course Credits on courses with starting date from 1 July 2019 onwards. For more information, please visit here

5. One-time application fee
There is a one-time application fee of $60 (before 9% GST) applicable for all.

6. Immersion trip does not include airfare
Participants need to pay for own airfare while 5 nights hotel accommodation (within NTU reasonable standards) are provided by NTU.

 

An online assessment will be conducted at the end of the course.​

Online assessments and evaluations will be conducted at the end of the course. Participants taking the SkillsFuture grant must comply with the following requirements to be awarded with the grant:

Achieving minimum attendance (75% of the total course hours)
Completion and pass the course assessments

*Course Certificate will be awarded to the participant who have fulfilled all the above requirements and upon completion of all assessments.
