Launch of the WHO Food Safety Roadmap Development Tool

The Singapore Future Ready Food Safety Hub (FRESH@NTU) is supporting a World Health Organization-led effort to help countries strengthen National Food Safety Systems through structured analysis and road mapping approaches that support action to address foodborne disease risks around the world.

Under the ongoing Joint Action Plan between NTU Singapore and the WHO, the FRESH@NTU team including a PhD student Alfonso Vargas, led by Professor William Chen, has worked with Professor Yin Xunyuan from CCEB to develop the WHO Food Safety Roadmap Development Tool.

The tool is an Excel-based instrument designed to support the implementation of the WHO Global Strategy for Food Safety 2022–2030 in WHO Member States. The WHO Global Strategy provides a shared vision and framework for strengthening food safety systems globally. The tool supports this process by providing a standardized platform for national food safety authorities to review progress across the five Strategic Priorities and 21 Strategic Objectives of the strategy.

The WHO Food Safety Roadmap Development Tool will be launched during a WHO open webinar on 03 June 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM CEST, in connection with World Food Safety Day 2026. Registration is available here.
