Protein Platform

Effective protein production and purification form the cornerstone of structural biology investigations. The Protein Platform at NISB has cell culture rooms and shaking incubators that enable the scalable protein of proteins - up to 12 liters for bacterial expression and 8 liters for Sf9 and mammalian expression. Furthermore, the platform is equipped with a comprehensive pipeline for protein purification.

As a protein expression platform, we also offer protein production services for clients from both academia and industry. Our services encompass the entire spectrum, from gene cloning to protein expression and purification, ensuring a seamless and reliable process for our clients.

To maximise functional protein yield, the platform has both prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression hosts on hand, along with multiple expression vectors.

Protein Purification

Our established protein purification package employs a fundamental two-step purification process, integrating affinity chromatography and gel filtration chromatography. Throughout this meticulous purification protocol, we employ the AKTA Pure FPLC system, ensuring the highest standards of precision and efficiency. The choice of standard purification buffer is either predefined or tailored to user preferences and specific requests.

We offer a high degree of flexibility to tailor the purification methodology to individual requests, allowing for optimization and troubleshooting past the initial purification trial. This optimization encompasses variables such as buffer conditions, purification steps, and the specific methodology of chromatography. While our primary choice for chromatography are GE/Cytiva columns, we welcome clients to provide specific or customized columns.

    NISB offers competitive rates for our services. As each request is unique, quotes will be tailored accordingly based on scope of service, and expression and purification methodology.
