Distinguished University Professor Gao Huajian receives the 2023 ICF George Irwin Gold Medal for his leadership and major contributions on the mechanics of engineering & biological materials. The award will be presented at the 15th International Conference on Fracture (ICF15), 11-16 June 2023, at Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

About the ICF George Irwin Gold Medal:

The ICF George Irwin Gold Medal was established in 2009 by the International Congress on Fracture in honour of American scientist George R. Irwin, who was a pioneer and founding father of fracture mechanics. Gao is the 5th recipient of the medal. Prior recipients include Paul C. Paris, James R. Rice and John W. Hutchinson
