A research paper lead-authored by MAE PhD Candidate Mr Yang Shiyu was given the Outstanding Paper Award at The 7th International Building Physics Conference (IBPC 2018) held 23 – 26 September 2018 in Syracuse, New York.

The awarded paper, “Modelling and Model Calibration for Model Predictive Occupants Comfort Control in Buildings” by Yang Shiyu, Wan Man Pun, Ng Bing Feng, Zhang Zhe, Adrian Lamano, and Chen Wanyu proposes an integrated linear model for indoor air temperature, humidity and Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) index suitable for fast real-time multiple objective optimization for intelligent Building Automation and Control (BAC) applications.

The award was given to only six papers out of the roughly 200 peer-reviewed accepted papers at the conference.

About the conference:

The International Building Physics Conference (IBPC) takes place every 3 years and is the conference of the International Association of Building Physics (IABP).  Over 250 presentations were presented at the conference with attendees and representatives from over 33 countries.
