Student Mentoring Scheme

Introduction

The objectives of the student mentoring scheme are to help students adapt to undergraduate life and academic study in MAE, establishing rapport and encourage interaction between academic staff and students, to provide a feedback channel for students, and to provide academic, study and career advice to students.

Mentors for year 1 students

All year one Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering students will be assigned a professor as their mentor throughout their study in year 1. Students will be informed of their mentors via their NTU email accounts at the beginning of the semester. The mentors will provide academic guidance to students and may meet students in groups or individually as appropriate. Meetings may be scheduled in any place conducive for interaction, such as school meeting rooms, or the mentors’ office. Students may also see their mentors during their consultation hours each week.

Mentors for year 2 to 4 students

All year two MAE students will be required to read MA2079 Engineering Innovation and Design (EID). Each group will have a professor as the EID mentor. The professor will also be the academic mentor throughout the students’ course of study in MAE from Year 2 to 4.

In addition, students may also approach the University Counselling Centre (UCC) for help.
