NTU warmly welcomed the Kansai Productivity Center (KPC) from Japan, featuring an exclusive visit to the University and a special lecture by Professor Ong Yew Soon, Co-Director of Singtel Cognitive and Artificial Intelligence Lab (SCALE@NTU), on 18 January 2024.
Established in 1956 as a non-profit organisation in Osaka, KPC promotes business productivity. With about 600 member companies representing all major industrial, financial, and commercial enterprises in the Kansai area, along with 150 labour unions representing 1.2 million workers, KPC includes scholars and individuals with vital backgrounds and experiences.
The event centred around the theme “Creating a Happiness Story for a 100-year Life: Social, Organisational and Individual Approaches to Pioneering the Future” with a specific focus on AI, recognising it as a pivotal technology for the next century.
Associate Professor Lydia Helena Wong, the Director of GAIN, presented NTU’s approaches for industry-university partnerships to the delegates.
Furthermore, the delegates enjoyed a tour of Gaia, Asia’s largest mass-engineered timber building, Green Mark Platinum certified for Zero Energy by the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore.
