Inaugural NTU-AmCham-EuroCham event: Public-Private Partnerships for Research and Innovation

Organised by NTU, together with the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) and European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) on 14 April 2022, this event brought together representatives from many American and European multinationals to explore possible collaboration with NTU in the setting-up of projects such as joint labs and research institutes.

This partnership between NTU, AmCham and EuroCham facilitate a triple helix model of innovation where industry, government and academia work hand in hand to achieve commercial and societal outcomes.

Minister of State for Trade and Industry Ms Low Yen Ling graced the event, in which she emphasised that such collaboration is vital in enhancing companies' access to innovation and key markets.

Two companies that have corporate labs in NTU (HP and Continental) also provided insights, where they spoke about how their collaboration with NTU had given them access to expertise and resulted in patented innovations.

This was followed by a panel discussion which was moderated by NTU's Senior Vice President for Research Prof Lam Khin Yong. The discussion was actively participated by guests from the industry, with the discussion highlighting the importance of discovering new products and businesses, as well as new ways of doing business in keeping the economy dynamic.

Towards the end of the event, exhibits showcasing research advances from NTU in the areas of Sustainability, Circular Economy, Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, Food Innovations etc which included tours to the respective corporate labs of  HP-NTU Digital Manufacturing Corporate LabContinental-NTU Corporate LabSingtel Cognitive and Artificial Intelligence Lab for Enterprises (SCALE@NTU), were also well received by the guests attending this event.
