From CCDS iLab to the World: AidMi’s Journey from Prototype to Global Startup

AidMi began as an idea by three NTU students who took their project to CCDS iLab, where it was incubated into a working prototype. What started in NTU has since grown into an intervarsity startup with team members from NTU, NUS, and ITB — today gaining recognition from Silicon Valley to Asia’s leading medtech stages as a global mental health innovation platform.
About CCDS iLab
The CCDS Innovation Lab (iLab) is the innovation hub of CCDS, supporting students in turning ideas into impact through mentorship, funding, and startup guidance. Its Student Entrepreneurship Programme (SEP) helps student founders like the AidMi team turn early ideas into viable, real-world ventures.
From NTU Roots to CCDS iLab
The story of AidMi began when NTU students Alen Tao (NBS), Wang Yu Teng (CCDS), and Shanice Lim (CEE) first came together with a vision to address gaps in mental health care. Alen focused on partnerships, Yu Teng on product development, and Shanice on product design. Their shared goal was to reduce long wait times, high costs, and fragmented workflows in clinical settings by leveraging technology.
They took their idea to CCDS iLab, where they received workspace, grants, and mentorship. This support enabled them to build their first working prototype and gave them the confidence to pursue their innovation more seriously.
Evolving into an Intervarsity Collaboration
As the project progressed, the team evolved. Shanice stepped away to pursue other commitments, while Yu Teng continued to contribute to product development. Alen brought in his long-time friend Kwon Sang Yun from NUS, and together they invited Mutaqin Aryawijaya, an alumnus of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), to join the team.
What started as an NTU project incubated in CCDS iLab has since grown into an intervarsity collaboration, with founders now representing NTU, NUS, and ITB.
The team continues to receive support from CCDS iLab through mentorship and advisory guidance, reinforcing its role as the launchpad that equips students to grow their innovations into real-world ventures.

Milestones on the Global Stage
With their foundation laid at CCDS iLab, AidMi quickly gained international traction and recognition:
Selected for the Silicon Valley Residency 2025 (Silkroad Innovation Hub x AlchemistX), the first Singaporean startup chosen, representing NTU in Palo Alto. The accelerator focuses on US customer development, enterprise sales, and go-to-market strategies.
Chosen for the Meta Llama Incubator 2025, among the first Asian cohort selected for Meta’s programme, in partnership with MDDI, IMDA, GovTech, DISG, and Enterprise SG.
Named Grand Finalist at LSI Asia 2025 (with MedTech Actuator), one of Asia’s largest medtech stages, connecting startups with health-system and industry partners across APAC.
Named Grand Finalist at the Toh Siew Lok BME Student Design Award, with finals to be held at the IUPESM World Congress of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering in Australia, October 2025.
Awarded First Place across all three categories at the BES 18th Scientific Meet (Singapore), hosted at NTU.
Named Grand Finalist at the SXSW Sydney Student Pitch, the only team from Asia among the 10 finalists. The finals will take place in Sydney, October 2025.

The Road Ahead
AidMi is currently raising a pre-seed funding round to hire more developers and sales representatives to support active commercialisation. The round will also enable the team to expand collaborations and strengthen validation efforts.
In Singapore, AidMi is working closely with senior consultants at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), as well as embarking on joint research with NTU in collaboration with Professor Yohanes Eko, Chair of the School of Social Sciences. The team is also establishing research partnerships with universities in the United States.
On the fundraising front, AidMi has already attracted strong interest from several ASEAN venture capital firms, reflecting growing investor confidence in the startup’s potential.
For CCDS iLab, AidMi is proof that student ideas, even across institutions, can scale into ventures with global impact. What began as a prototype inside NTU has become an intervarsity success story shaping the future of mental health innovation.
