NTU College of Computing and Data Science
Minor in Artificial Intelligence
Foundational understanding of AI concepts, methods, and applications across disciplines.
The Minor in Artificial Intelligence (AI) provides students with a foundational understanding of AI concepts, methods, and applications across disciplines. Designed for students outside the College of Computing and Data Science, the minor emphasises AI literacy, computational thinking, and responsible engagement with AI technologies.
Students gain exposure to how AI systems are developed, applied, evaluated, and governed, enabling them to understand both the capabilities and limitations of AI in real-world contexts.
Who This Minor Is For
This minor is suitable for undergraduate students who:
Want structured exposure to artificial intelligence alongside their primary discipline
Seek to understand how AI is applied across domains such as business, science, engineering, and the humanities
Are interested in developing the ability to reason critically about AI systems and their societal impact
This minor is not intended for CCDS students or programmes that already include substantial AI content as part of their core curriculum.
What You Will Learn
Through this minor, students will:
Develop foundational understanding of key AI principles and techniques
Learn to engage with AI systems through critical use, evaluation, and interpretation
Examine ethical, legal, and societal considerations surrounding AI
Apply AI concepts across different disciplinary contexts
The curriculum balances technical foundations, applications, and ethics, offering breadth without requiring a full computing degree.
Programme Structure
To be awarded the Minor in Artificial Intelligence, students must complete 15 Academic Units (AUs).
This typically includes:
