Vehicular Localization using V2X and Information Fusion

In the project, we demonstrate a 5G-based positioning solution to aid in V2X localization. 

  • We utilize the 5G NR DL PRS to assist localization services in the actual 5G networks as suggested in TS 38.305 (V16.0.0). The code phase receiver and carrier phase receiver proposed are suitable for 3GPP 5G standard-compliant localization service and signals, i.e. NR DL PRS. 
  • We propose a generalized path time delay estimation method to adapt to the more generalized pilot symbol pattern including 5G NR DL PRS.
  • Based on the proposed code phase receiver, we further propose a 5G carrier phase receiver, which could provide carrier phase measurements and velocity estimate. The 5G receiver is able to continuously track the phase change of 5G carriers due to relative movement between receiver and the transmitter.
