Dr Goh Lai Yoong Endowment Fund

Born in Ipoh, Malaysia, Dr. Goh Lai Yoong obtained two doctorates from the University College of London, and subsequently had a successful career in chemistry spanning six decades, including a position as Senior Teaching Fellow at Nanyang Technological University.

In 2010, the Dr. Goh Lai Yoong Endowment Fund was set up in conjunction with the launch of Dr. Goh’s autobiography, “Follow the Chemistry: Lure, Lore and Life”. The autobiography presents an account of her personal and professional life, including her childhood, education in British Malaya, doctoral studies at University College London, and her rewarding career in various international centres of learning, during which she successfully juggled teaching, research and raising a family.

The Dr. Goh Lai Yoong Endowment Fund provides scholarship awards and bursaries for talented female students to read chemistry, with the goal of inspiring and encouraging more young women to venture into science, research and academia.
