NBS Head of Accounting division, Assoc Prof Tong Yen Hee shared his delight regarding this achievement. "Our accountancy alumni have continued to do well for the SCAQ exams, surpassing the national pass rate yet again. This reflects the proud tradition of our accountancy graduates excelling in their area of expertise and making a mark in their chosen careers. This also attests to the relevance and rigour of our accountancy programme in producing graduates who are ready to tackle the demands and challenges of their organisations," he said.
Assoc Prof Tong added: "The SCAQ puts the candidates through a series of rigorous exams to equip them with multi-disciplinary skill sets, technical expertise and strong global business understanding. As a chartered accountant in Singapore, they can become key leaders in the accountancy, business and finance sectors and are trusted advisors who can provide valuable insights to any organisation."
We reached out to Assoc Dean of Undergraduate Academic, Prof Low Kin Yew to share his thoughts on the recent performance of our alumni.
"The consistent stellar performance of our accountancy graduates in the SCA Professional Programme since its 2016 inception speaks volumes about how well our 3-year Bachelor of Accountancy programme trains accountants for the future. With the infusion of digital and data analytics into all core accounting courses, the option to pursue a Minor in Digitalisation and Data Analytics or our new double degree in Accountancy and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, our accountancy graduates will be well placed and prepared for the challenges of tomorrow," he shared.
The SCAQ is the national chartered accountant qualification, developed by the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC), and administered by the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA). The SCA certification sets professionals on a path of wide career options in any industry, i.e., Director positions and C-Suite roles such as CEOs and CFOs in accountancy, business, and finance.
NBS' Bachelor of Accountancy degree is recognised as a professional accounting qualification in Singapore by ISCA and the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority. Graduates of our Bachelor of Accountancy will receive module exemptions should they take up post-qualification professional development courses such as the SCAQ.
