A Warm Welcome to Our New Alumni Association Ex-Co

The Nanyang Business School Alumni Association welcomes eight new members ready to bring in new ideas to strengthen the leadership

The Alumni Association (AA) at Nanyang Business School (NBS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, was established to support the strategic direction of NBS. It serves as the heart of our alumni mission and is run by alumni on a voluntary basis focusing on three primary areas, namely Continuous Learning, Corporate Engagement & Careers, and Social and Community Engagement, to support and connect alumni members.

On 1 Oct 2021, eight new members were appointed to the executive committee. 

They are Mr Daryl Neo Boon Yao, Manager for Corporate Planning & Strategy at Omni-Plus System; Ms Lily Tran Thi Hong Van, General Manager, AvePoint; Mr Mrat Yussubaliyev, Head of Growth, Connected Freight Pte Ltd; Mr Stanley Chia Dingli, Co-founder & Chief Operating Officer, Cialfo; Mr Sharmeel Rajaratnam, Deputy Director (Training), Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms Starrie Lee Shu Ting, Consulting Analyst, Delaware Consulting Asia Pacific Pte Ltd; Mr Tan Soon Liang, Founder & Managing Director, Ti Ventures Pte Ltd; and Mr Terrence Fou Zi Cheng, Digital Marketing Analyst for Sales Enablement APAC at Boston Scientific.

Meeting the new Alumni Association Ex-Co members over Zoom

New AA member Starrie Lee Shu Ting expressed her excitement to contribute to the NBS alumni family. She said: ‘’I joined the AA to serve and contribute to my alma mater. By being a part of the Social and Community Engagement sub-committee, I hope to get to know more alumni and work with NBS seniors and juniors alike to initiate meaningful initiatives to serve the community.”

Expressing her appreciation, Assoc Prof Chung Lai Hong, Assistant Dean of Alumni Affairs said: “Alumni serve many invaluable roles at our University. I am heartened to have all your support as we contribute to NBS and I look forward to working with each and every one of you to bring exciting new events and initiatives to our alumni family.”

On the Continuing Leadership

Former Vice-President of Corporate Management & Careers sub-committee, Jack Lim, was appointed as the new AA president on 1 Oct 2021.

“Over the past three years as I served on the AA, I’ve had first-hand experience of the impact of AA programmes on the alumni family and community. I am honoured to take over the reins from Weng Hoe and bring the executive committee to new heights,” he said.

Mr Lim will be supported by Mr Tan Soon Liang, Vice-President, Corporate Engagement & Careers; Ms Diana The Hui Ling, Vice-President, Continuous Learning; and Ms Claire Oo, Vice-President, Social & Community Engagement.

“The new AA will continue to organise more events, both virtually and physically, to bring alumni together. In addition, we will pay more attention to develop programmes that meet the objectives of our AA," he added. 

Thanking the Support from Committee Members

Outgoing AA President Chong Weng Hoe, thanked the outgoing members for their contributions and support, saying: ‘’I am indeed honoured to have had the chance to serve as the President of AA and grateful for the support from all of you, and I am sure this will continue and intensify under the new leadership.”

The other outgoing members are Mr Tan Chee Seng, who served in the sub-committee for Continuous Learning; Mr Chua Boon Ping, Mr Han Jaewon, Ms Ng Toon Lee, and Mr Kevin Wong, who have all given their time to Corporate Engagement & Careers; and Mr Adrian Mok, Mr Nath Sudswong, and Mr Christian Rahnsch, who facilitated Social and Community & Engagement.

Always Part of the Alumni Family

Assoc Prof Chung thanked the outgoing team for their committed service throughout their term.

She also expressed gratitude to the team for raising the profile of NBS by organising events involving distinguished speakers, alumni, and corporate partners, as well as fostering a culture of continuous learning in the NBS alumni community.

Thanking Weng Hoe for his leadership of the AA and guidance of the outgoing AA’s contributions, Assoc Prof Chung said: “You will always be a part of the AA family and we hope to work with you in other capacities on new projects and initiatives.”

Mr Th’ng Beng Hooi, Alumni Relations Director of the Advancement Office, welcomed the new members, saying: “AA members bring leadership, knowledge, and precious experiences. The leadership renewal will allow more alumni to contribute to the University in different ways. This will help us to build a cohesive alumni network where alumni are engaged in partnership with the School and with one another to contribute to the common good of the NBS family.’’
