The NBS Global Leaders Programme (NGL) by NBS is one of the Signature Programmes offered at NTU. This programme is for those who are seeking a supercharged business education to launch their careers with leading global employers. It’s all about giving you an enriching, interdisciplinary, and future-ready experience that prepares you for the real-world demands of leading companies in Singapore, Asia, and around the world.
You’ll get to work on real-world projects, receive mentorship from top business leaders and join specially curated credit-bearing workshops in fields like investment banking and management consulting. It’s more than just academics – we focus on leadership, communication, and personal growth, as well as offer financial support that includes an international exchange at a top school like the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.

Get hands-on experience through summer internship opportunities at companies across the globe. Even better, you’ll spend two semesters at a top international business school like UC Berkeley Haas, immersing yourself in a world-class academic environment. General
The NBS Global Leaders Programme (NGL) by Nanyang Business School is one of the Signature Scholars Programmes offered at NTU. This programme is designed for high-achieving students who are looking for a holistic educational journey that goes beyond academics to prepare the next generation of business leaders.
One of the key features of the NGL is the curated workshops, led by NBS faculty and leading industry experts, that will give you an edge in your search for internships and full-time jobs. You’ll get the chance to collaborate with industry partners and work on real-life industry challenges, visit companies, and participate in networking sessions. You will also have the chance to learn under the mentorship of senior business executives to prepare you for leadership roles in the world’s top companies.
In addition, you’ll get the chance to create something that has a long-lasting impact on the community in your final year, funded by the Founder’s Project. Whether it’s starting a social enterprise or developing a new app to address a community issue, this project enables you to give back to society in a tangible, impactful way.
NGL is not a standalone programme and will run in parallel with your enrolled programme (e.g. Double Degree in Accountancy and Business). Hence, you will study in your respective programmes, while pursuing enriched academic and co-curricular activities that are being offered by NGL.
Curriculum
In addition to the course requirements for your 4-year degree programme, NGL scholars are expected to undertake the following customised credit and non-credit bearing modules and co-curricular activities in and out of the classroom.
3 Customised NGL Core Courses in year 1
- Business Ethics
- Enhanced Career Foundation
- Communication Management Fundamentals
3 Experiential learning courses for NGL scholars in years 2-4
- Strategic Project in Sustainability – a week-long overseas immersion working with a company on current sustainability issues (year 2)
- Tech4Good – an Honours College course featuring student collaboration across scholars programmes (year 2)
- Founder’s Project – Teams of three NGL students receive S$10,000 to launch a new enterprise or product, likely with a social/community service focus (years 3-4)
Overseas Immersion in year 3
- Year-long immersion programme at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business
- Cultural Intelligence course runs concurrently with the overseas immersion
International Internships
- Opportunities to embark on summer internships across the globe
Mentoring by Top Business Leaders in years 2-4
- Structured mentorship programme with senior executives (e.g., C-suite, managing directors, business heads), offering unique real-world insights for career mentoring
Industry Workshops in years 2-4
- Credit-bearing courses custom-built to help top students prepare for internships and full-time jobs in three competitive fields: finance (advisory, markets), management consulting, and accounting
- Students may choose one workshop, admission by application and interview
Leadership & Communication Training
- Bespoke 4-year leadership training programme
BDEs are a function of your underlying degree programme, and different programmes have different amount of BDEs available.
You will need to maintain a CGPA of no lower than 3.75.
Career
Like other premier scholarship programmes, top employers are aware of the rigorous selection criteria applied to select those students admitted to the NBS Global Leaders Programme. The combination of courses and co-curricular activities in the NBS Global Leaders programme has been specifically designed to prepare students for top career paths in leading firms across multiple industries.
Student Life and Hall Accommodation
Yes. Although guaranteed, you will need to make a formal application for the hall stay.
You will have many opportunities to interact with alumni, industry practitioners and corporate leaders starting early in your NTU programme. Our corporate partners actively recruit students for internships and, while nothing is guaranteed, the early interactions may give NGL students a leg up in the internship recruiting process.
Admissions
NGL is open to all nationalities with outstanding academic records enrolled in a 4-year programme in NBS. You should also possess excellent co-curricular records with strong leadership qualities and potential, as well as solid communication and interpersonal skills that will enable you to reach your full potential in the workplace after graduation.
NBS offers the following 4-year programmes:
- Bachelor of Business (BBus) with Honours (Single Major) and Bachelor of Business (BBus) with Honours (Double Major)
- Double Degree in Accountancy and Business
- Double Degree in Accountancy & Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
- Bachelor of Applied Computing in Finance
- Bachelor of Accountancy (Sustainability Management and Analytics)
If you are not enrolled in a 4-year programme at NBS but are enrolled in a 3-year degree programme at NBS, you can consider applying to NTU’s University Scholars Programme (NTU-USP).
If you have been accepted to NTU and wish to apply for NBS Global Leaders (NGL), you may wish to send us an email via [email protected].
If you have accepted another University but wish to apply for NGL, you can still apply to NTU and indicate your interest in NGL. You may follow up with us by writing to us at [email protected].
Your NBS Global Leaders scholarship will be withdrawn, and you will be offered a tier of NTU scholarship which is on-par or as close to the benefits of the withdrawn scholarship as possible. You will have to meet the minimum CGPA required by the scholarship at the point of withdrawal.
The scholarship coverage period will follow the new programme’s normal candidature less the number of semesters you have already consumed under the previous scholarship.
Upon withdrawal from the Signature Programme, the scholar will also forgo other non-monetary guarantees/privileges under the Signature Programme.
The scholarship will cover the normal candidature of a maximum of 8 semesters for a 4-year programme. You will not be covered by the scholarship should you wish to extend your candidature.
Yes, you are welcome to apply to NBS Global Leaders (NGL) even if you are already holding a private scholarship. You will not be offered a NGL scholarship. However, you can be accepted into the NGL as a scholar with no scholarships.
No bond is attached to the NBS Global Leaders scholarship for Singapore citizens. However, a three-year bond is applicable to all Singapore PRs and international students under the MOE Tuition Grant Scheme.
