1. Need to keep up? Build new skills with NTU PACE

If you want to deepen your expertise, pick up new skills or prepare for a career transition, the NTU Academy for Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) offers flexible options for working professionals.

From short courses and career transition programmes to FlexiMasters, you can build new capabilities alongside your career. Areas of learning include artificial intelligence (AI) and data, digital transformation, sustainability, business and engineering.

“Staying relevant is the biggest motivation for coming back to learn. Things are changing so quickly that the course also helps experienced professionals relate to a new generation entering the workforce,” says Swarup Biswas, NTU PACE trainer in Data Science and AI.

2. Ready to step up? Develop your leadership skills with Nanyang Executive Education

Taking on broader responsibilities often means moving from being an expert in your field to leading people, influencing others and making decisions beyond your own function. Nanyang Executive Education (NEE) offers programmes in areas such as leadership, AI, finance and sustainability. The programmes combine practical, action-based learning with real-world cases and industry perspectives, helping professionals apply what they learn directly to their work.

“As I moved into a broader management role, I realised being a good specialist wasn't enough. I needed to learn how to lead people, influence others, and think beyond my own function. The Management Development Programme for Future-ready Leaders gave me practical insights that helped me lead more effectively,” says Wong Ping Ping, Senior HR Manager of Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad.

3. Making a big career move? Go deeper with postgraduate study

Some career moves require more than a short course. If you are looking to change fields, deepen your expertise or qualify for a more specialised role, postgraduate study can provide the knowledge and qualification to take that next step.

“After seven years in the defence industry, I realised I needed deeper expertise in applying machine and deep learning to signal processing to develop cutting-edge defence technologies. The master’s programme provided the depth and structured knowledge I couldn’t gain through on-the-job training alone,” says Ron Lim, who graduated with a Master of Science in Signal Processing and Machine Learning.

Alumni can also explore NTU’s Interdisciplinary Graduate Programme, where learners draw on knowledge from multiple fields to tackle complex, realworld challenges.

4. Curious about something new? Explore NIE’s short courses

Learning does not always have to be about your next promotion or career move. You can also pursue an interest, develop a new skill or learn something outside your professional field.

The CET unit within NIE’s Office of Graduate Studies and Professional Learning runs short courses open to the public, including those who do not work in education.

Courses cover areas such as sports coaching and instruction, supporting your child’s learning, and STEM education, with formats ranging from single workshops to multi-session courses.
