​One and Three Books

From March 21 to April 22, 2019, the Cité du design Saint-Etienne is hosting the 11th edition of the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Etienne, under the title ME/ YOU/ NOUS: Designing Common Ground.

The exhibition One and Three Books has been invited to be part of the pedagogical mega-show Stefania. One of the main pillars of the Biennale, Stefania will be held at the École Supérieure d’Art et Design of Saint-Étienne (ESADSE), and it will present more than thirty French and international schools.

The exhibition One and Three Books is the outcome of an ongoing research/pedagogical project led by Danne Ojeda at the School of Art Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Inspired by the artwork One and Three Chairs (1965) by Joseph Kosuth, it analyzes the relationship between the book as a concept, the book as a process (its making-off), and the book as an object of communication.

The 11th Biennale Internationale Design Saint Etienne is dedicated to the Chinese UNESCO Cities of Design: Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Wuhan; the Biennale celebrates the exponential growth of China within the international design scene. In this context, One and Three Books will exceptionally introduce a series of works having as a subject matter Chinese historical and cultural heritage in Singapore.
