Research study on HIV stigma and discrimination awarded NCID grant

Ritu Jain (Language and Communication Centre) received a grant from the National Centre for Infectious Diseases NCID for her project titled Stigma and discrimination as factors in late diagnosis and treatment presentation for people living with HIV.

Abstract:

To assess, through thematic and emotion analytic methods, the extent to which stigma and discrimination contribute to late diagnosis and treatment presentation for people living with HIV (PLHIV) in order to promote better health outcomes; in addition, to provide recommendations for HIV policy to reduce anticipated stigma among those at risk of acquiring HIV, optimize voluntary HIV screening.
