SC3DP Research Fellow, Dr Sing Swee Leong, was awarded the prestigious Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship 2020.

The NTU Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship acknowledges early career researchers, and provides the opportunity to conduct independent investigations in any discipline in NTU, Singapore. The postdoc appointment is intended to provide a pathway to an academic appointment as an assistant professor or another international postdoctoral assignment. Swee Leong was awarded a two-year tenure, a research grant of up to S$100,000 per year, and generous personal development opportunities and mentorship in an established research group.

With the NTU Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship, Swee Leong aims to address the limited materials available for metal AM by using the in-situ alloying, a key challenge faced in the field of Additive Manufacturing (AM). Ultimately, he aims to create a “plug and play” approach to metal AM through the understanding of fundamental sciences related to the processes, properties and performances of AM metals.
