The Future of Manufacturing – Grand Challenges

What does it take for AM to move beyond? This webinar will continue to explore the grand challenges of AM as a sunrise industry and its potential for growth. There will be two talks followed by a panel discussion. The panel discussion will be moderated by Prof Paulo Bartolo, SC3DP Executive Director.

Title: Additive Manufacturing with Fibrous Materials

Professor Prasad Potluri is a Professor of Robotics and Textile Composites, Director of Northwest Composites Centre and Academic Theme Lead for the Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre at the University of Manchester.  He has been a High Value Manufacturing CATAPULT Fellow at the National Composites Centre (Bristol) and AMRC (Sheffield).  Prasad Potluri has a bachelor's degree and master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and PhD in Applied Robotics.  He works at the interface of robotics, fibrous materials and high value manufacturing.   Prior to joining academics, he worked as a senior design engineer at Suzuki Motor(1984-90). 

Professor Potluri has extensive industrial collaborations and has received funding of over £18 million and part of consortium grants worth £50million.  He has been Manchester PI for the EPSRC Future Composites Manufacturing HUB and CI for the  EPSRC Textiles Circularity Centre.  


Title: Latest 3D Printing Trends and Technologies

Mr Tuan TranPham was recently Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) at AZUL 3D and prior to that he spend 20+ years working for seven of the largest 3D printing companies, such as Z Corp, 3D Systems, Objet, Stratasys, ARCAM (a GE company), Desktop Metal and AREVO.

Tuan possesses a unique perspective and insight on 3D printing applications, challenges, opportunities, technologies and trends. Tuan is extensively connected within the 3D printing industry and has over 33,300+ LinkedIN followers.  He was recently presented a Distinguished INnovator Operators award, known as “the DINO Award” within the 3D Printing Industry > https://www.linkedin.com/in/ttranpham

Tuan earned a Business (Export) Engineering degree from the Danish Technical University (DTU) and gained business experience while working in Denmark, England, Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam and the United States.  

He speaks Danish, English and Vietnamese. Tuan is based in Greater Boston, MA.
