Programme Structure details for matriculation Year 2026
COURSES OF STUDY
The courses of study and the distribution of the courses for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with 2nd Major in Future Foods will be determined by the School of Biological Sciences with the approval of the University.
Each course will be assigned a certain number of academic units as determined by the University. The distribution of the courses of study and the associated number of academic units is shown in the table below.
- Core: Compulsory courses required to satisfy programme requirements. In the first and second year, it is common in that all students enrol for the same core courses.
- Major Prescribed Electives: Students to elect and undertake courses with advanced topics and training specific to the major discipline.
- 6 ICC - Common Core Courses: Focusing on Key Transferable Skills and Global Challenges.
- 4 ICC - Professional Series: Including Professional Communication, Digital proficiency, Professional internship, Profession Preparation.
- 1 ICC - Care, Serve, Learn (CSL): To develop deep understanding of societal issues and empathy through active community service and reflective learning.
- Broadening & Deepening Electives (2nd Major in BSFTFD) – To fulfil minimum total 30 AU (compulsory + elective) to be awarded the Second Major.

- 5 Compulsory courses (15 AUs)
- 5 Second Major Electives (15 AUs)

- A minimum CGPA of 4.50 and a grade of at least A- for the Final Year Project are required for the award of an Honours (Highest Distinction) Degree.
- A minimum CGPA of 4.00 and a ‘Pass’ grade for the Final Year Project (FYP), are required for the award of an Honours (Distinction) degree.
