Introduction
The course aims to deepen course participants' understanding on how to develop a Tamil teachers’ capacity. Course participants will learn about the teacher training, pre-service and in-service training, courses offered to the teachers from the certificate, diploma, post-graduate diploma and degree levels.
Participants will know about the Master’s and research level capacity building for the Tamil teachers. This course will look into the knowledge sharing practices and confidence building opportunities for Tamil teachers in building and enhancing the capacity in Singapore Tamil education.
This course is part of:
- Graduate Certificate in Tamil Language Education
- FlexiMasters in Tamil Language Education
Learners must complete any three of the following courses to attain the Graduate Certificate in Tamil Language Education (12 AU):
- MTL901 Tamil Curriculum, Materials including IT: Selection and Evaluation (or MTL901A-C)
- MTL903 Tamil Language in Education (or MTL903A-C)
- MTL907 History of Singapore Tamil Education and Tamil Literature (or MTL907A-C)
- MTL908 An Introduction to Sociolinguistics and Bilingualism for Tamil (or MTL908A-C)
Upon completion of the fourth set of courses, learners will fulfil the AU requirements to attain the FlexiMasters in Tamil Language Education (16 AU).
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Importance of Tamil teacher training in Singapore
- Pre- service and in-service courses
- Curriculum, teaching and leadership courses and development
- Future of Teacher Training in Tamil Education
- Research based capacity building to teachers
- Knowledge and confidence building among Tamil teachers

- Undergraduate and post graduate courses
- Leadership courses and progress in career
- Research based capacity building to teachers
- Knowledge and confidence building among Tamil teachers.
- Singapore Tamil Language and Literature Education, Curriculum and Pedagogy
Working professionals with background and or experiences in one or more of the following areas will better appreciate the course contents:

Participants are recommended to take the courses in the sequence A, B, and C as the contents of the latter courses build on the foundations of the earlier courses.
