Introduction

Upon completing the course, students will better understand leveraging Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) into the Chinese  Language classroom. Students will learn how to employ digital learning materials or references to aid traditional teaching. They can also have  an in-depth understanding of the interactions between technology, pedagogy and Chinese language learning. Students will be equipped  with the design capacity to engender different forms of teaching enabled or enhanced by ICT. Specifically, students will be engaged in  using communicative approaches, socio-constructivist learning, and extending language learning within and beyond the classroom. With  globalisation and the context of the 21st century, learners must be nurtured with new literacies to be effective communicators in  cyberspace, particularly in the new media environments. Therefore, providing a closer link to the 21st century teaching and learning with  ICT, providing the natural context for developing the new literacies, is essential.
