Introduction

To enable students to be future-ready in the rapid-changing knowledge-based economy of the 21st century, there is an imperative  need for educators to change their way of designing assessment  approaches to provide students with ample opportunities to gain  authentic learning experiences and enable the transfer of relevant  knowledge and skills from the classroom to solve real world problems.  This course aims to enhance educators’ assessment literacy in  implementing effective assessment decisions and practices to  enhance the quality of student learning. By going through this course,  educators will gain a deeper understanding of assessment principles  and practices to enable them to design appropriate assessment tasks  and learning approaches to facilitate their students’ acquisition of 21st  century competencies.

Learners need to complete the following courses to attain the Graduate Certificate in Learning and Development (12 AU). 

  • MDP904 Motivation, Volition and Learning in-Action
  • MDP907 How to Nurture Creative and Happy Learners (OR DP907A-C)**
  • One of the following courses:
    • MDP909 Assessment and Development of 21st Century Competencies (OR DP909A-C)**
    • MDP906 Personality and Attitude Assessment

Upon completion of all courses, learners will fulfill the AU requirements to attain the FlexiMasters in Learning and Development (16 AU).

**Learners have to complete the entire set of modularised courses to be considered as completing one course.

 

 

 


On completion of the course, the learners should be able to:

1. Design performance-based assessment tasks and scoring rubrics to assess 21st century competencies
2. Evaluate assessment approaches and process for effective student learning
3. Apply the principles and approaches of providing student feedback in the assessment proces

• Evaluation of assessment approaches and process for effective student learning
• Principles and approaches of providing student feedback
A teaching qualification such as the Postgraduate Diploma in Education or at least one year of work experience in education.
