Introduction

 
 
This two-day course has been specifically designed to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of how to develop applications using Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) application programming interface (API) technology, which is an advanced language model. GPT API utilizes pre-trained models to generate text and perform various language-related tasks. By harnessing the power of GPT, learners will learn how to enhance business outcomes through the development of innovative applications.
Throughout the course, learners will acquire extensive knowledge of GPT API at both a team and organizational level, and they will be guided through practical steps to initiate GPT application projects. This includes working with GPT-based API models, fi ne-tuning them, deploying them in the cloud, and seamlessly integrating them into various applications. Practical use cases for GPT models, such as chatbots, will be explored to demonstrate their real-world applications and benefits.
The course also provides hands-on exercises and app development projects, allowing learners to cultivate a diverse range of skills in Natural Language Processing (NLP), programming, API integration, testing, debugging, and deployment. By applying their knowledge and honing their practical skills, learners will stay up to date with the latest advancements in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This ensures that they remain relevant and well-informed professionals in their respective domains.
 
 
 
At the end of the course, the learner will be able to
(1) Gain a deeper understanding of GPT technology and how if can be used to generate human-like text or to perform other NLP tasks
(2) Build an app using a GPT API with programming skills like Python, Java or JavaScript
(3) Utilise API documentation to confi gure API authentication requests and handle errors
(4) Test and debug their app with different input scenarios
(5) Deploy and maintain their app in the cloud or local server, monitor its performance, identify issues and execute updates
 
 
 
 

Learner will be taught the followings: 

  • Choosing a suitable GPT API. 

  • Setting up the API 

  • Using programming languages like Python, Java, or JavaScript to send requests to the API and receive responses. 

  • Testing and deploying the app 

  • Monitoring app's usage and performance 

 
 
 
This programme is suitable for participants working/ intending to work in the any industry. Prior knowledge in programming will be an advantage.

Dr Teoh Teik Toe

Teik Toe is currently the Academic Director and Senior Lecturer in NBS, NTU teaching Business Analytics and AI subjects. He is the Academic Director for NBS Master of Science in Business Analytics. He is also the Associate Director for NTU NBS AI Lab and NTU NBS IMARC Center. He is also the adjunct professor in Henan University, Shandong Institute of Technology and Han Chiang University. He has published 4 books and more than 100 publications including journal, conference. He has more than 30 years of research experience including Big Data, Deep Learning, Cyber-security, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Software Development. He also has more than 25years of teaching experience in AI, Data Science and Analytics, Statistic, Business, Finance, Accounting and Law.

He has obtained PhD in Computer Engineering from NTU, Doctor of Business Administration and MBA from University of Newcastle, Master of Law from NUS, LLB and LLM from UoL. He did is post doctorate from SUTD

He is also the chartered holder of CFA, ACCA, CIMA, Chartered Accountant Singapore, Chartered Tax Practitioner, Associatr Chartered Valuer and Appraiser, Chartered Accountant Malaysia and CPA Australia. He is also a member of Mensa.
