Introduction

The objective of the course is cover the basic principles of operation of the metal oxide semiconductor field transistor (MOSFET) which is a key semiconductor component in process technology in manufacture and integrated circuit design.

1. Understand in detail the fundamental principles of operation MOSFETs;

2. Know the model of MOSFETs;

3. Understand scaling effects and;

4. Able to design high performance MOSFETs.

- MOSFET Threshold Voltage

MOSFET Modeling

- Charge Control Model
- Velocity Saturation Effects
- Source and Drain Resistances.

MOS Device Scaling Effects

- Short and Narrow Channel Effects
- Reverse Short Channel Effect
- Hot Electron Effect
- Subthreshold Conduction.
