Introduction

This module examines the lifespan of a full-length book, from acquisitions, development, author relationships, design, typesetting, production, and printing to its eventual distribution.

By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate an awareness of the parameters and varieties of book publishing in Singapore and worldwide
- Develop the ability to apply humanities research and research methods to the creative industries
- Develop an appreciation of the particularity, diversity and range of opportunities from both a theoretical and practical perspective

As with all Humanities courses, this course prepares students for a wide range of employment opportunities in Busincess, Education, Civil Service, and the arts, as it provides specific job scope considerations to supplement the writing, reading, and critical thinking skills that serve Humanities so well in taking on jobs in these sectors. This particular course provides special insight into jobs in Journalism and Media.
