Chua Thian Poh Entrepreneurship Education Fund

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) is the proud beneficiary of the S$10 million Entrepreneurship Education Fund, made possible by a generous gift from community and business leader, Dr Chua Thian Poh.

Dr Chua Thian Poh’s philanthropic contribution has been endowed to NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur), to foster entrepreneurship and innovation through education in various key areas.

 

About the Entrepreneurship Education Fund

The NTU Entrepreneurship Academy has established a range of grants and awards, including the esteemed Chua Thian Poh Scholarship. These grants and awards are designed to provide financial support for NTU students who wish to enroll in the Minor in Entrepreneurship (MiE), Second Major in Entrepreneurship (SMiE), Overseas Entrepreneurship Programme (OEP) or students in the Master of Science in Technopreneurship and Innovation Programme (MSc TIP).

 

Financial Support for Undergraduates

Chua Thian Poh Scholarships  

The Chua Thian Poh Scholarship provides financial support for NTU students who wish to enroll in the Minor in Entrepreneurship (MiE) or Second Major in Entrepreneurship (SMiE). The scholarship will be awarded to students with good academic performance and who demonstrate financial need. Each student will receive a scholarship of S$5,000* per year.

Chua Thian Poh Venture Fund  

Chua Thian Poh Venture Fund encourages NTU students to take a leap and launch their businesses after graduating from MSc TIP; to turn their ideas into reality. The Fund is also opened to undergraduates who are taking the module ET5101: DEEP Dive into Entrepreneurship.

Each winning student or group will be awarded up to S$15,000* to start their business venture. The award will be dispersed in tranches upon achieving defined milestones.

Chua Thian Poh Overseas Immersion Award 

NTUpreneur’s Overseas Entrepreneurship Programme (OEP) is a credit bearing programme for undergraduates. It is a 20 to 24-week internship programme for students to gain practical experiences in starts-ups and accelerator companies in countries such as China, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, USA, Thailand, and Vietnam. This programme is open to all NTU undergraduate students who choose to do an overseas internship in entrepreneurship.

Students who demonstrate financial need may apply for the Chua Thian Poh Overseas Immersion Award to go on OEP. Each student is funded up to S$5,000* each Academic Year. 

Eligible students are also funded up to S$5,000 (Southeast Asia Start-ups only) by the Ministry of Education.

Financial Support for Postgraduates

Chua Thian Poh Scholarships

The Chua Thian Poh Scholarship is intended for both the Master of Science in Technopreneurship and Innovation Programme (MSc TIP) students and undergraduates. 

There are two scholarships for MSc TIP. Each student may be awarded up to S$40,000*, and 10 scholarships of S$5,000 each for undergraduates.

1. Can I apply for multiple initiatives under The Chua Thian Poh Education Fund?  

 Each student can receive an award from each initiative only once.

2. Who is eligible to apply for the scholarship/grant?
Subjected to conditions, all Singaporeans taking a Minor in Entrepreneurship or Second Major in Entrepreneurship or Overseas Entrepreneurship Programme, and Master of Science in Technopreneurship and Innovation Programme are eligible to apply. After initial screening, candidates will be evaluated based on their eligibility for these grants through careful consideration of their application materials and performance during selection interviews.
