Research Interests
Migration, mobility and transnationalism; language, identity and nationalism; modern history of East Asia; China’s social development and global engagement; transnational governance.

Biography
Dr Ma got her PhD in Public Policy and Global Affairs from the Nanyang Technological University and MSc of China in Comparative Perspective from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her doctoral thesis proposed a new framework to theorise the operation of Confucius Institutes and evaluate their power implications, based on extensive fieldworks in Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. She was a guest lecturer and teaching assistant to courses Asia Pacific Global History: Pre-1800 and From 1800 in NTU from 2015 to 2016. She joined the Nanyang Centre for Public Administration in 2017 and has coordinated and contributed to several research projects covering topics including cross border social sector governance and the Belt and Road Initiative. She has also been a core committee member in organising several large-scale international forums and conferences.

简历:
马博士拥有南洋理工大学公共政策与全球事务博士学位、伦敦政治经济学院中国比较研究硕士学位。其博士论文基于在新加坡、泰国和马来西亚的深入田野调查,提出了分析和理解孔子学院跨国运作及影响的全新框架。她曾于2015至2016年担任1800年前亚太地区和1800年后亚太地区全球史课程客座讲师和助教。2017年加入南洋公共管理研究生院后,负责并参与了多个研究项目,涉及跨国社会部门治理和“一带一路”倡议等话题,同时参与组织了若干大型国际会议和论坛。
